Canadian Buy for SurveyMonkey
DIY online research firm SurveyMonkey has acquired Fluidware, an Ottawa, Canada-based provider of online survey and application review tools. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 Fluidware was established in February 2008 by co-founders and co-CEOs Eli Fathi and Aydin Mirzaee and provides a DIY research and analysis product, FluidSurveys, and a centralised information sharing and review system, FluidReview. SurveyMonkey says it will maintain Fluidware's office and infrastructure in Ottawa, and that Fathi and Mirzaee will each have a role in the combined company.
SurveyMonkey has been quiet on the acquisition front of late, having partnered with equity investment firm TPG Growth in late 2011 to acquire research software and services firm MarketTools and sold off the online data quality arm TrueSample last October to a group of investors.
SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg says the buy will extend his company's global reach, 'particularly into the attractive Canadian market where Fluidware is an industry leader'. He adds: 'We look forward to working alongside the talented Fluidware team as we continue to execute on our strategy to attract new customers, access new territories and leverage leading technologies that help further our mission of helping our customers make better decisions.'
Pronouncing himself 'thrilled' with the deal, Mirzaee says his firm's products 'will benefit from superior resources and support, including a proven management team with more than 15 years of operating experience', and continues: 'We will be able to accelerate and scale the development of innovative software solutions that empower customers worldwide.'
