Netquest Buys Passive Measurement Specialist Wakoopa

Iberian and Latin American online panel provider Netquest has acquired behavioural data collection technology specialist Wakoopa. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Wakoopa is now a fully-owned subsidiary of Netquest.

German Loewe and Piet Hein van DamFounded in 2007 and based in Amsterdam, Wakoopa develops passive tracking systems for the market research sector. These systems are used to observe online behaviour among panellists across any device, and the results are then combined with data such as demographics and car ownership.

Following the acquisition, both companies will remain as separate entities with their own clients, while jointly exploring new ways to service respondents and clients. Wakoopa says the partnership will enable the firms to integrate all aspects of online research - sending invites, asking questions, passively measuring behaviour, and offering incentives - through one app; while Netquest CEO German Loewe says the deal will expand his company's offer by providing clients with behavioural data on desktops, smartphones and tablets.

Piet Hein van Dam, CEO of Wakoopa, comments: 'Together Netquest and Wakoopa have the opportunity to continue building amazing products while also exploring new territories based on each other's strengths. Wakoopa remains focused on building the best passive measurement technology and bringing these data and insights to clients.'
