Tech Specialist Gigaom Bought by Knowingly

Technology research, trends and analysis specialist Gigaom Research, which ceased operations in March when parent firm Giga Omni went into liquidation, has been acquired by online publisher Knowingly. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, Gigaom provided news, research and events as well as insight into disruptive companies, people and trends: its in-depth analysis of emerging technologies came from a network of more than 200 analysts. When parent Giga Omni ceased trading, this network of analysts, editors, researchers and other staff was disbanded, and ongoing research projects were halted.

Knowingly has now acquired some of Giga Omni's assets, including the Gigaom Research brand. Knowingly CEO Byron Reese and Gigaom Research's former Lead Researcher Stowe Boyd are now working together to help set up a new research and analysis operation, which will be officially launched on August 15th this year.
