Altimeter Snapped Up by Prophet
US-based technology research firm Altimeter Group has been acquired by brand and market strategy consultancy Prophet. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 Altimeter publishes research to help companies understand and act on technology disruption, and also offers research-based advisory and strategy consulting for both brands and technology companies. Following the acquisition, Altimeter will continue to operate under its existing name, while enabling Prophet to deliver research across customer experience, big data and the Internet of Things.
Prophet says the combination of the two firms marries research-based frameworks with customer insight and consulting capabilities, and that its own global scale and resources will allow Altimeter to expand the breadth and depth of its research. In addition, Altimeter's analysts will work closely with Prophet's clients and internal strategists to provide insights on emerging business challenges and technology trends.
In a statement, Altimeter CEO Charlene Li (pictured) said: 'Prophet's goals of helping clients uncover customer insights, build stronger brand relevance, and deliver engaging customer experiences mirror our own. The combination of Prophet's roster of clients and its global presence and expertise provides a fantastic opportunity for us to create cutting-edge research'.
