YDM Continues Spree with Social Media Buy

Korean firm Yello Digital Marketing (YDM) Group has bought a majority stake in Thai-based social media analytic tool developer Computerlogy. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Another digital buy for YDMYDM has acquired more than 60 companies since the middle of 2014, including recent buys Thai digital marketing company Adyim and Indonesian ad tech company Adplus. In November last year raised US$100 million in a round valuing it at c.$1bn.

Headquartered in Chon Buri, Computerlogy was founded in 2009 by a group of software developers, and became the first company in Thailand to earn the Facebook Marketing Partner badge in the community management category. The firm's services include a social media and data analytics tool called TH3RE, and the Social Trend Spotter solution.

As part of the deal, Computerlogy will merge with YDM; part of Yello Mobile group, which comprises more than 70 companies specialising in shopping, media and content, advertising and digital marketing, and travel across Southeast Asia. Computerlogy will work with YDM to create a 'Technology Research and Development Centre', introducing new products to the market.

YDM CEO Sang Seok Lee comments: 'Digital era is escalating the growth potential of companies like Computerlogy, which provides digital marketing services based on data analysis. With the joining of Computerlogy, YDM Group will solidify its data analysis capability and lead the social media advertising market in Asia through synergies among family companies'.
