Ipsos' John Wright to Retire

John Wright, SVP at Ipsos Public Affairs (Canada), is retiring from the company at the beginning of next year, to focus on publishing a book with the firm's CEO Darrell Bricker.

John WrightWright (pictured) has a 35-year background in the public affairs arena, and 26 years of public opinion polling experience. Prior to joining the firm in 1989 (when it was known as the Angus Reid Group), he spent eight years at an advertising and media/public affairs firm, worked as an Executive Assistant to an Ontario Cabinet Minister, and as Government Relations Coordinator for the Manufacturers Life Insurance Company. In addition to serving as SVP of Ipsos Public Affairs' Research Division, he is MD of the Ipsos Global [at]dvisor international poll; and a Director of the Canadian Association of Public Opinion Research.

During his career, Wright has co-authored three books with Bricker: What Canadians Think About Almost Everything (2005), We Know What You're Thinking (2009) and Canuckology (2010). He and Bricker have recently been signed by HarperCollins to write a book under the working title of DemandShift, which will examine the demographic and attitudinal changes happening to Canadian society and the implications for markets and decision makers.

Commenting on Wright's departure, Bricker said: 'John's legacy at Ipsos is important. We all owe him a major debt of gratitude for what he has done to help Ipsos Public Affairs become the market leader in Canada, but also for what he has done to build the Ipsos brand overall. We couldn't have done it without him'.
