Nielsen Promotes for Top Diversity Role

Nielsen has promoted Angela Talton to the role of Chief Diversity Officer, reporting to CEO Mitch Barns. She succeeds Dr D Sangeeta who moves into the new role of Global Client Operations Leader, overseeing all regional and client-related operations and deployment.

Angela Talton and Dr D SangeetaTalton joined the firm in 2007 as SVP of Global Call Center Operations. Most recently, she served as SVP, Global Diversity and Inclusion, during which time Nielsen secured a perfect score of 100% on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which provides a national benchmark survey of corporate policies and practices relating to LGBT workplace equality. Earlier in her career, Talton held senior roles with Sears Holdings Corporation, ALLTEL Communications, and Vanguard Cellular Systems.

In her new position, she will continue to oversee the company's diversity and inclusion programs, including supplier diversity, training and employee engagement. Commenting on the promotion, Barns said: 'Angela's vision, leadership and execution have helped us reimagine diversity at a global scale. As Nielsen's Chief Diversity Officer, she will be a vital part of my leadership team and a champion for our companywide investments to ensure our business is representative of the communities where we live and work'.

Sangeeta has been with Nielsen since 2008, in senior roles including Client Service Executive for Global Business Services, North America Buy, and Chief Business Process Improvement Officer. Earlier, she spent more than eighteen years at General Electric and Battelle in a variety of leadership roles spanning global operations, risk management, marketing, acquisitions, business process improvement, and research.
