Mu Sigma Names New CEO

Decision science and data analytics firm Mu Sigma has promoted Ambiga Dhiraj to the role of Chief Executive Officer, replacing founder Dhiraj Rajaram, who will continue full-time with the company and retain the role of Chairman.

Ambiga DhirajChicago-based Mu Sigma, which has its main delivery centre in Bangalore, India, and its European base in London, is partly owned by MasterCard's insights arm MasterCard Advisors. The firm combines many disciplines to help clients institutionalize data-driven decision making and solve business problems across marketing, risk management and the supply chain.

Dhiraj (pictured) has been with Mu Sigma for more than eight years, and led the talent management, marketing, innovation and product development divisions before taking on the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2012. Prior to joining the company, she held senior roles at mobile social media services company Kirusa, and served as Research Lead at Motorola during eight years at the firm.

She is based in Bangalore, and takes over the day-to-day running of the company from Rajaram, who will now spend more time working with clients across the US and other parts of the world. He will also design new offerings for the company, and forge strategic alliances. Commenting on the news, Rajaram said: 'The rate at which we've added new clients, combined with the amount of help that our clients demand in realising the potential of big data, led me to this decision to work with them more closely. Ambiga is one of the most design-oriented and operationally strong leaders that I've ever worked with. The company had planned for this possibility, and the time is right'.
