YouGov, Cebr Partner for 'Heavyweight' Quarterly Report

YouGov is teaming up with consultancy the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) to launch The UK Economic Index, described as the first comprehensive quarterly analysis of the country's economic outlook of consumers and businesses.

Cebr was founded in 1993 by Douglas McWilliams, and its services range from micro-economic impact studies to macro-economic forecasting across the UK, the Eurozone and the global economy. The new service will combine its expertise with YouGov's deep research resources and output detailed data from both businesses and consumers about how they view the economy. Subscribers will get the first quarterly data in April.

The business component uses in-depth research among 1,500 business decision-makers each quarter, and will measure such indicators as headcount, capital investment, revenue from domestic and international sales, and B2B spending.

The consumer component will be based on interviews with 18,000 people each quarter and will look at economic experiences and expectations including assessments of household financial situation, house value and job security, both in the past month and in the year ahead.

Subscribers can add their own questions for both sets of respondents.

Graham Brough, Chief Executive of Cebr, comments: 'Since the financial crisis and subsequent period of fragile growth it has been more vital than ever for organisations to know what businesses and consumers are thinking and how they are acting and this new study will allow them to gain this insight'. Stephen Harmston, Head of YouGov Reports, says: 'Government departments, the financial sector and private companies are crying out for this type of comprehensive data and we are pleased to be first to market with such a valuable and necessary piece of heavyweight economic analysis'.

The partners are online at www.cebr.com and www.yougov.com .
