Harte Hanks Names New COO/CTO

US-based direct marketing and targeting giant Harte Hanks has appointed Shirish Lal as its Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, to help lead the company's transformation to an analytics-driven, customer-centric marketing services business.

Shirish LalHarte Hanks offers a range of services which includes data analysis/insight, market research, creative services, digital development, and marketing technology management. Lal (pictured) joins from cloud and IT services firm CenturyLink, where he served as CMO, responsible for leading a 500-person marketing team with responsibility for data/analytics, digital marketing, product management, marcoms and pricing. Before this, he was Sr VP Consumer at Level 3 Communications, CMO at Ionex Telecom, and President of Broadband Services at Broadwing. Earlier, he held senior positions at IXC Communications, and American Management Systems.

In his new role commencing in March, Lal will report directly to CEO < 21471>Karen Puckett, who he previously worked with at CenturyLink. His role will focus on strategic direction; product and technology roadmaps; service delivery; information technology; and corporate development. Puckett comments: 'Shirish possesses a unique ability to assess markets and industry trends and translate those into opportunities and actions. His perspective as a chief marketing officer gives him a unique understanding of the challenges our customers face in the dynamic marketplace'.

Separately, Keith Metzger, Head of Global Corporate Development, will be leaving the company at the end of February, and Rick Carbone SVP Operations will leave the company at the end of March. Puckett thanked both for their 'contributions and leadership'.
