Infor Acquires Retail Big Data Firm Predictix

US business app developer Infor has acquired retail big data predictive analytics and data science firm Predictix for an undisclosed sum. Infor has also expanded its retail business unit to Europe, with the appointment of Jason Berry as Vice President, EMEA.

Using big data, predictive analytics, retail science, and computing, the 'Predictix Adaptive Platform for Intelligent Decisions' is used to help retailers gain real-time insights for planning, allocation, assortment and space optimization, pricing, forecasting, and replenishment. Earlier this year, Infor invested $25m in Predictix, and the latter's software will now be integrated into development of Infor CloudSuite Retail, a cloud-based retail management solution that supports all formats and types of retailing - including online, brick-and-mortar, social, mobile, fashion, and grocery.

Berry joins in Europe with more than fifteen years' management and consulting experience. Most recently, he was responsible for business development and account management in Oracle's Retail Global Business Unit, prior to which he was a Managing Consultant at CACI, developing demographic and location analysis, consumer demand analysis, and turnover forecasting solutions. In his new role, Berry will help retailers identify, quantify and realize business benefits across Europe.
