BrainJuicer on Upward Curve Again

UK-based agency BrainJuicer has reported revenue up 13 percent, or 9 percent at constant currencies, in a trading update for the first half of the year. Gross profit growth was in double figures, with the Americas and Continental Europe leading the way.

John KearonIn March, the pioneering company announced 'modest' 2015 revenue growth of 3% (constant currency), to £25.18m, the second year of slower growth - although profits were up. In the equivalent H1 statement a year ago, revenue rose just four percent and pre-tax profits declined by 25% due to increased overheads. The formal announcement of the latest results will be made on 16th September.

According to today's interim statement , gross profit grew by 15%, or 11% in constant currencies, with a 27% rise in the US, and jumps of 30% and 22% respectively in Continental Europe and Brazil. In the UK, gross profit declined 2% and in China and Singapore it was down 5%.

BrainJuicer, whose CEO is John Kearon (pictured), says its Ad Testing and Brand Tracking services continued to grow strongly, with gross profit up 59% year on year; while its newly launched creative agency System1 helped boost operating profit by some 41% to around £1.7m. Cash balance remains strong with £5.2m in hand despite returning £2.2m to shareholders in the period, in dividends and share buy-backs.

The company says it is 'too early to say what the impact of the UK's exit from the EU will be' on the MR budgets of its clients, but the Board believes it is 'in a position to meet market expectations for the full year'.
