New Office Gives Aquila Insight Space to Expand

Edinburgh big data analytics firm Aquila Insight has geared up for further rapid expansion with a move to larger offices, still within the technology incubator Codebase on Lady Lawson Street.

Set up four years ago by data analysts Warwick Beresford-Jones and John Brodie, Aquila uses advanced analytical techniques and technology combined with human input from insight professionals to help clients connect with individual customers. In June, the firm announced it had doubled year-on-year turnover for the third time in a row, to £4.2m for the year 2015/16, and said it plans to launch its first international office later this year.

The company currently employs more than 75 staff, and as is on target to double headcount in the next twelve months. To accommodate this growth, Aquilla has made the move to larger space within Edinburgh's Codebase, based in Argyle House and home to more than 50 start-ups. Previously occupied by web-based fantasy sports gaming company FanDuel, the space takes up most of the top floor of one of the building's wings.

Beresford-Jones comments: 'We have big plans to expand further this year and we now have space to do it. The move, alongside the rebrand and our recent award wins, marks the start of an exciting new phase in Aquila Insight's history. We are hiring at a rate of twelve analysts each quarter so it was only a matter of time before we outgrew our previous home. I'm delighted that we have been able to stay in Codebase and continue to be part of such a thriving tech community'.
