ABC Names Chairman Designate
In the UK, media measurement body the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) has named Derek Morris as its Chairman Designate. He will take up the position of Chairman alongside his existing role at Publicis Media, after the next ABC Board meeting on 7th December.
 The ABC brings the industry together to agree measurement and process reporting standards, while offering independent audit and compliance services to verify that data and processes meet those standards. Its team uses a census-based approach to verify data across a wide range of media channels including print, online and events, while including new platforms as they emerge. In addition, ABC works closely with JICWEBS to deliver certification for a wide range of digital processes.
Morris (pictured) is currently European Lead for P&T at Publicis Media, having previously served as COO at VivAKi, Chairman of Zed Media/ZenithOptimedia UK Group, Chief Strategic Officer at Publicis, and Managing Partner at Unity. He also held senior roles at OMD UK/ Boase Massimi Pollit, where he worked for seventeen years.
He will replace Sally Cartwright, who has held the office since 2010. She began her career in the magazine industry at IPC Media, where she held a number of senior publishing titles, before becoming MD of Harmsworth magazines, and Publishing Director and then Director at Large of Hello! Magazine, prior to her retirement from the magazine in 2009. During her career, she has also chaired a number of industry groups.
Cartwright says of the appointment: 'Derek is ideally placed to ensure ABC continues to deliver the stamp of trust for media brand measurement in a rapidly changing media landscape. The combination of his knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the ABC board and management team going forward'.
