BrainJuicer Profits Up in 2016

UK-based BrainJuicer has announced gross profits up 27% to £25.6m for the calendar year 2016 - equivalent to 15 percent at constant currencies. The rise was driven primarily by the continued 'strong progress' of its US business and an 'encouraging recovery' in Continental Europe.

John KearonIn an update, the firm said it had 'traded strongly' during 2016, regaining momentum after modest growth in 2014 and 2015. Gross profit from ad testing and brand tracking services rose by around 80%, and represented 39% of BrainJuicer's total gross profit, compared with 27% in 2015. The company's System1 creative ad agency, launched early last year, had costs net of initial revenues in 2016 on budget at £0.3m.

In addition, the firm said that even after a much higher level of bonus payments, compared with a negligible payout in 2015, pre-tax profit for 2016 is expected to be 37% higher at around £6.2m, (2015: £4.5m) after a share-based payments charge of £0.5m (2015: £0.2m). Cash balance at the end of the year was £7.8m, up from £6.4m at the end of 2015, despite paying out £5.2m in dividends in the course of last year.

BrainJuicer is changing its financial year end from 31st December to 31st March, and during this transition year, the announcement of unaudited results for 2016 on 9th February 2017 will be followed by audited results for the fifteen months to 31st March 2017, which will be announced in June 2017.
