UK-based pharmaceutical and consumer insight and marketing group Cello has reported a 5.4% rise in group revenue to £165.3m for the year ended 31st December 2016 (2015: £156.7m), driven by increases in both its Health and Signal divisions.

Mark ScottCello Health comprises four capabilities: Insight, Consulting, Communications and Consumer, and includes agencies MedErgy Health Group, iS Healthcare Dynamics and Promedic. Cello Signal, which competes in two key markets: direct marketing, CRM, CSM and targeted brand communications; and market research and insight analytics, comprises agencies 2CV, blonde digital, Brightsource, Face, The Leith Agency, Leithal Thinking, Opticomm, Stripe Communications, tangible and TMI.

Last year, group gross profit was up 7.1% to £92.7m (2015: £86.5m), with headline profit before tax up 0.8% to £10.2m (2015: £10.1m). During the period, Cello Health's Insight digital capabilities experienced a 67% increase in revenue vs 2015, driven by a combination of an expanded client base and new offerings such as 'Living Lens' searchable video technology. The firm said it had seen 'significant growth' in IQ, its quantitative research practice, with a 53% year-on-year increase in revenue; while specialist hard-to-get data brand Kudos has begun the process of building a panel of doctor respondents. At Cello Signal, insight and innovation continue to lead the service offering in the US, where in Los Angeles and San Francisco, these services are 'well established', with larger offices recently taken in LA to support the gaming community client base. This push into the US market has been assisted by the UK-based innovation team.

CEO Mark Scott (pictured) comments: 'Cello Health is now in a strong position to accelerate its global growth, with a particular focus on the US market. Cello Signal is making steady progress against its goals, with the Pulsar social media product continuing to grow strongly, as well as increasingly supporting the digital communications capability of Cello Health'.
