Prosper Insights & Analytics Names New COO

In the US, business intelligence solutions firm Prosper Insights & Analytics has appointed John Sydnor as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Prosper, which provides market information on consumers in the US and China, uses analytical software to examine big datasets and report a variety of information including consumer intent, economic, behavioral and attitudinal data via a cloud-based InsightCenter platform. The firm's datasets are used to create 'consumer personas', uncover insights from credit card transactions, anticipate macroeconomic trends, and identify consumers' future purchase intentions.

Sydnor (pictured) joins after serving as VP of the Eastern Division of big data analytics firm Saama Technologies. Before this, he was SVP, Venture Acceleration at state-supported venture fund Rev1, an Investment Consultant at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, and President and COO of institutional research and trading firm Melvin Securities. Earlier, he served as CEO and President of data analytic firm Dakota Services Corporation.

In his new role, Sydnor will lead Prosper as it re-focuses its efforts on the financial services, marketing technology, and retailers and brands markets. Commenting on the reasons behind the appointment, CEO Gary Drenik said: 'We made this decision because one of our most strategic opportunities is in the financial services sector, which is searching for advanced consumer analytic solutions and is primed for explosive growth. John brings a background in investment banking and private equity, coupled with an extensive career in Silicon Valley and data analytics.
