Nielsen Rolls Out Scantrack in Northern Ireland

Nielsen has rolled out its Scantrack grocery sales measurement service in Northern Ireland, giving regional grocery retailers and FMCG manufacturers access to weekly sales data gathered from supermarkets and convenience stores.

Matt ClarkScantrack is used by research, brand and sales managers to examine key business trends by product, category or market using scanner-based sales and causal information gathered weekly from grocery, drug, and large retail stores. In Northern Ireland, the service uses actual EPOS data from retailers to quantify total store sales every week by SKU, across all the major food and drink retailers in the region.

Matt Clark (pictured), Nielsen's Commercial Director in Ireland, comments: 'Scantrack has effectively been the currency for grocery sales in both GB and the Republic of Ireland for years but now it will help Northern Ireland's retailers and manufacturers to see how they're performing, so they can improve and grow their business. Central to this is the granularity of the EPOS data, which is provided on a weekly basis across both the multiples and the convenience channels'.
