Aki Technologies Hires 'The Orr-acle' as COO

In the US, mobile data management platform Aki Technologies has appointed Orr Orenstein, aka 'The Orr-acle', as Chief Operating Officer.

Orr OrensteinAki, which was founded in 2015, offers a 'mobile moment platform' which uses artificial intelligence to analyze billions of mobile activities, then predicts when a consumer is most likely to engage with an ad. The tool combines anonymized location over time with the same user's social media graph and the content they view, to gauge their mood at a particular moment and recommend ads accordingly. The company's data science team correlates the various signals with a brand's performance metrics including time spent with an ad, engagement, and subsequent in-store visits, assessing the relative importance of these in each case.

Orenstein (pictured) previously teamed up with Aki founders Scott Swanson and Alvaro Bravo on Mobile Theory, a brand-focused mobile ad technology company later acquired by Opera Mediaworks, where he went on to serve as Head of the Innovation Lab. Before this, he was CTO of Mobile Theory and VP of Mobile at Photobucket, and he held product management and engineering roles at tech giants including Vodafone, IBM, VeriSign, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Netscape.

In his new role, Orenstein will drive organizational efficiencies as the company expands its 'moment marketing' targeting and insights offering. Commenting on the appointment, Swanson said: 'To get to the next level, we are hiring unrivaled talent. Orr's nickname is 'The Orr-acle' for good reason - he will undoubtedly bring both exceptional technical prowess, product development know-how and organizational strategy to guide us through our next high-growth phase. We are all really psyched to get the band back together again'.
