Bonney Leaving ABA Research to Set Up 'New Venture'

In the UK, Nick Bonney has stepped down from his role as Managing Director of ABA Research, to set up an as-yet undisclosed new venture. He will be replaced by company founder Alison Bainbridge.

Nick Bonney and Alison BainbridgeSt Albans and Leeds-based ABA uses a set of proprietary tools and techniques to uncover how consumer emotions can help shape retail propositions, and track both the brand and the customer experience. Bonney took up the post of MD a year ago, after a two-decade client-side career. This included leading the Insight team at Camelot UK, before which he served as Market & Customer Insight Director at EE, and spent eleven years at Orange, latterly as UK Market Insight Director. Earlier, Bonney worked agency side as a Research Manager at Maritz Research, and Field Manager at RDSi.

Bonney says he has now found that he prefers providing strategic advice to clients rather than managing the day-to-day operations of an agency. 'During my year here, I've come to realise that the work I really enjoy is in adding value to brands at a strategic level, something that I've found hard to juggle alongside the many and varied duties of MD. I admired ABA as a client, and my admiration has only grown whilst I've been working with Alison and the team. I'm pleased to say that we part on extremely good terms, and I hope to continue working together once I've set up my new venture', he explains.

Bainbridge said Bonney's time in the role had given her the time to step back from the day-to-day management of the business; and wished him every success in his new venture.
