Fox News Rolls Out Voter Analysis Polling System

Rupert Murdoch-owned US cable and satellite news channel Fox News has launched a polling system, to capture voter sentiment surrounding key issues and provide a 'more comprehensive' look at voting behavior and opinions.

Jay WallaceThe channel, which is available in more than 90 million homes, has launched the Fox News Voter Analysis system to provide results for the November 2018 US midterm elections. The network and The Associated Press (AP) will collaborate as survey partners to probe the detail of voting trends; and researchers will poll voters using multiple platforms, including cell phones, landlines and the Internet. Fox News says it will collaborate in designing the questionnaires and refining methodology.

Working with NORC (National Opinion Research Centre) at the University of Chicago, Fox and AP have already demonstrated the potential of their new approach in the Alabama special election for US Senate, and in the 2017 gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia. Jay Wallace (pictured), President of News for the channel, comments: 'By combining poll data with timely information on registered voters and actual vote results, the Fox News Voter Analysis will provide the best possible report on American elections. Most important, we will provide in-depth coverage of every state-wide election in 2018 and 2020, which will be particularly valuable as we expand our digital coverage'.
