Former ONS Exec Takes New Ipsos MORI Analytics Role

In the UK, ONS veteran Karl Ashworth has been named Head of Data Analytics at Ipsos MORI's Social Research Institute. He takes up his new role next month.

Karl AshworthAshworth (pictured) joins with a background of developing statistical solutions for social and economic issues, and a particular interest in statistical estimation techniques and developing the application of machine learning algorithms. Most recently, he served as Head of Evaluation at NatCen (The National Centre for Social Research), before which he was Senior Statistical Analyst at the Statistics Center in Abu Dhabi, and he spent more than a decade at the ONS (Office for National Statistics) - latterly serving as Head of Collection, Editing Methodology and Statistical Computing, responsible for around 30 staff. Earlier in his career, Ashworth worked for the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University for more than twelve years, latterly as Head of Quantitative Research.

In his new post, he will bring his knowledge and experience in social research, statistical programming and policy evaluation to the Ipsos MORI Research Methods Centre. Commenting on the appointment, Kelly Beaver, MD of Public Affairs, said: 'We are really looking forward to having Karl join the team at the beginning of July. In his new role he will be leading our in-house team of data analysts and data scientists who specialise in working with social research, government administrative and economic data. I have great confidence that he will take our analytical offer from strength to strength'.
