New Funds and CEO for Mobile Marketing Firm Pulsate

Dublin-based mobile marketing platform Pulsate has appointed Sarah Martin as Chief Executive Officer, replacing founder Patrick Leddy. The firm has also raised $250k in a round of funding, which brings the total raised to date to $3m.

Sarah MartinRetailers use Pulsate's platform to identify relevant in-app behaviour, and then segment, automate and personalize customer communications at appropriate places and times. App users are encouraged to reply, forming a direct dialogue between the brand and the customer. Martin (pictured) joins from business expansion consultancy Globaleze, where she served as International Commercial Consultant; before which she founded and led Mamabud, a market access platform to help companies sell directly to Chinese consumers. Earlier, she held senior roles at Unilever and Digicel. She replaces Leddy, who left the Board of Directors last month.

The firm's new investment comes from eCommerce giant and existing investor PayPal, and from dunnhumby Ventures, with participation from the Delta Partners' Bank of Ireland Seed and Emerging Sectors Fund, Enterprise Ireland and several private investors. The latest funding adds to the $1.5m raised in 2016 and $1.2m seed investment secured the prior year. Kyle Fugere, Head of Ventures at dunnhumby, comments: 'Pulsate delivers meaningful results for its customers. We're excited to further deepen our commitment and support the company's next wave of growth and innovation'.
