New Firm Tastewise Offers Food Choice Analysis

In Israel, former Google CMO Alon Chen and techie Eyal Gaon have launched a food intelligence platform called Tastewise, to offer industry insights and predictions based on the analysis of billions of social media posts and photos, restaurant menus, reviews and recipes.

Tastewise Launches for Food Choice AnalysisThe AI-powered platform uses machine learning, predictive analytics, computer vision and NLP to predict future culinary trends, by analysing billions of food and beverage consumer touchpoints to uncover people's real-life interactions with food. These include more than one billion food photos shared every month, 153,000 restaurant menus across the US, and over one million online recipes. According to the firm, this helps industry professionals identify target segments and competitors, understand trends and determine which dishes or products should be served next.

As part of its launch, the new firm has also released its first Consumer Food Trends Report, along with a map detailing where the biggest health food opportunities are for both brick and mortar and virtual restaurants in each US state. Commenting on the firm's launch, Chen said: 'Today, many of us are adventurous eaters, constantly searching for new food experiences, while prioritizing our health. In this new environment, all CPGs and restaurants whatever their size have to become as dynamic as food trucks and pop-ups. Tastewise provides the freshest analytics to help them stay at the forefront'.
