YouGov and Cambridge Uni Launch Globalisation Study

London-based YouGov has partnered with the Bennett Institute for Public Policy at Cambridge University and The Guardian newspaper, to release a new study on globalisation and populism.

Stephan ShakespeareSet to become an annual survey, the new YouGov-Cambridge Globalism Project will be the flagship initiative for the YouGov-Cambridge Centre, a joint venture run by YouGov and Cambridge University's Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), which promotes academic collaboration between pollsters and subject experts. Findings of the study, based on national samples from 23 countries across the world, will be explored at a public event on 13th May in collaboration with The Guardian. This event will feature former Prime Minister Tony Blair in conversation with Paul Lewis, Editor of The Guardian's project on populism, with YouGov CEO Stephan Shakespeare (pictured), introducing the research findings.

Shakespeare claims the annual study is the largest of its kind on populism and the public state of globalisation. 'The rise in populism and the issues and events that have taken place in the last decade have provided practitioners a plethora of data points to develop an extensive, multidimensional survey, which can correlate attitudes and behaviour across myriad areas of life: from politics and democracy to food, travel and technology; from soft power and supra-nationalism to consumer habits and the environment'. He adds: 'We are delighted to collaborate with The Guardian in bringing the study's findings to life at this important forum'.
