Podcast Analyst Backtracks Raises Seed Funds

US podcast analytics firm Backtracks has raised $2.1m in a seed funding round, which it will use for further product development and staff recruitment to drive growth.

Co-founded by Jonathan Gill and Kevin Wright, Backtracks provides a B2B monetization and analytics platform for podcasts, helping audio content creators understand and grow their audience and revenue. Its Open Podcast Analytics platform collects behavioral and performance metrics, and provides access to detailed audience data including what, when, where and how an audience is listening to a podcast. According to the firm, the OPA can also predict audiences' listening and consumption behavior across native mobile apps and on the web.

New funding has been led by Moonshots Capital, with participation from Capital Factory, Sputnik ATX, Next Coast Ventures, Bull Creek Capital and BNSG Capital. Commenting on the investment, Gill said: 'We love Moonshots Capital's experience as operators, their extensive network, and their reputation with entrepreneurs excited us. We are honored to have them and our new investors on board as we modernize this industry'.
