Catalina Names Leadership Team in Japan

Shopper intelligence and personalization firm Catalina Marketing Japan has named Brett Wayn President and Chief Executive Officer, while Sean Chu has been hired as Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer, reporting to him.

Brett WaynHeadquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Catalina provides buyer intelligence and applies hyper-personalized in-store and digital media to drive, track and measure sales lift, powered by what it describes as the most extensive shopper database in the world. Wayn (pictured) joined last November as interim COO, with a background in technology businesses across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US. He previously served as the COO of DoCoMo AOL in Japan; held senior executive roles for Microsoft and Yahoo in Silicon Valley; and has served as a digital transformation consultant to APN News and Media in New Zealand and Hearst Newspapers in San Francisco and New York. More recently, he worked as an executive focused on mobile products and content in the fintech industry for Social Finance, Inc.

Previously, Chu was Chief Strategy Officer at AI tech company Appier. Earlier, he served as CMO for Microsoft Japan; Regional Director of Online Services at Microsoft Inc.; President and Representative Director for AXN Japan, a TV channel owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment; and International Director of Sales and Market Development for Dow Jones in New York. He began his career as a Project Engineer at Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois.
