Acquia to Buy Customer Data Platform AgilOne

In the US, digital experience consultancy Acquia has agreed to acquire customer data platform (CDP) AgilOne for an undisclosed sum.

Dries BuytaertLaunched in 2012, AgilOne offers a cloud-based predictive platform which provides customer intelligence and helps drive personalization. The company's CDP brings customer data from online and off-line technology platforms together into a single system, and uses machine learning to unify, cleanse and enrich customers' data. Using the platform, marketers can build targeted segments and optimize the timing and targeting of campaigns across a variety of customer touchpoints.

Through its Open Digital Experience Platform, AgilOne will add new capabilities to Acquia, which uses customer data and artificial intelligence (AI) to understand, acquire, and engage with customers. Following the acquisition, clients will be able to use their own machine learning models, choose from AgilOne's pre-built models to automate segmentation efforts, or configure business-specific customization into their pre-built models, which are then accessible across the entire platform.

Acquia's co-founder, CTO, and Chairman Dries Buytaert (pictured) comments: 'Built on open source technology, AgilOne and Acquia together will bring in data from any third-party system via open APIs, making it much easier for marketers to gain this single view of the customer and deliver better, more relevant customer experiences and analytics across every channel'.
