Nielsen Names Taiwan MD

In Taiwan, Nielsen has promoted long-term employee Luke Verwey to the role of Managing Director, with responsibility for all Nielsen Global Connect's business activities across the country.

Luke VerweyLast month Nielsen announced plans to spin off its Global Connect business (similar, but not identical to the former 'Buy' segment), creating two independent publicly traded companies, the other being Nielsen Global Media. Verwey (pictured) joined Nielsen in 2003 to manage the Australian retail and consumer tracking relationships for multiple consumer packaged goods clients. He left in 2006 to take up the position of Unilever's Trade Category Manager - Food, and re-joined Nielsen two years later, initially as Regional Client Director for Asia Pacific, and more recently as MD in Japan.

During his total of more than fifteen years with Nielsen, Verwey has held numerous leadership roles across both the commercial and operations organisations. These included CPG Commercial Leader in the Philippines, APAC Regional Client Business Partner for a global beverage manufacturer and tobacco company, and most recently eCommerce and Consumer Measurement Product Leader, Growth.

Verwey now reports to Cindy Shin, Developed Asia Leader, Nielsen Global Connect, who comments: 'Verwey will lead Nielsen Taiwan in its focus on developing people, strong client relationships, and continuous integration and innovation. I have every confidence that with his international vision to his new role, he will provide further diverse and insightful trends and solutions to drive clients' success, and will look fondly upon the technology and innovation we are using to shape smarter markets in the rapidly evolving world of global commerce'.
