European Roll-Out for Gracenote's EPG Solutions

Nielsen's entertainment data subsidiary Gracenote is expanding its Electronic Program Guide services into Europe - including Unique IDs and Deep Descriptive Metadata.

The service helps on-demand video streaming services, Smart TV makers and traditional cable and satellite operators deliver the latest content navigation, search and discovery capabilities, providing the 'connective tissue' that helps make video content searchable across multiple platforms and devices. Gracenote IDs and metadata provide common links between TV series, seasons and episodes, as well as related TV and movie genres, celebrities and other descriptive information. The company now boasts coverage of more than 200 catalogs in thirteen markets across North America, Europe, Latin America and APAC.

The tools now available in Europe also include Custom Content Imagery, which populates OTT Guide interfaces and carousels with images for films, TV series, cast photos and others for easy visual navigation; and Streaming Service Feeds, which provides deep linking, audio/video quality, content availability and critical data structure to integrate a streaming service into mobile, set-top boxes and Smart TVs.
