UserTesting Gets Funds and Buys 'Teston' Platform

Customer insights platform UserTesting has raised $100m in new funding, which it will use to increase market share and accelerate investment. The firm has also acquired Norway-based multilingual experience testing specialist Teston, for an undisclosed sum.

Oslo-based Teston enables remote, unmoderated user testing, with video results from users 'anywhere, anytime'. Clients can pinpoint what users within their target groups feel and experience about their products, and see how testers interact with those products through screen touches, clicks, face and voice; in order to test digital products, services, and anything that can be viewed over the web.

UserTesting - which last year, opened its first international office, in Edinburgh, Scotland - says the acquisition underscores its commitment to its European customers, and those across the globe who want insights in local languages. Andy MacMillan (pictured), CEO of UserTesting, states: 'Teston fits nicely within our product portfolio and reinforces our ability to give customers the fastest access to the human perspective, globally. The firm has built a playbook for localization that will enable us to serve our customers who wish to get feedback in European languages and beyond'.

Separately, the firm's new funding round has been led by global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners, with participation from existing investors Accel, OpenView and Greenspring. UserTesting has earmarked the funds to expand its footprint in Europe and Asia; accelerate product development; and invest in additional capabilities to support global scale and infrastructure. MacMillan adds: 'We are honored to be joined by industry-leading software investors in Insight Partners, who share our vision as we make on-demand human insights ubiquitous for companies everywhere'.
