StatSocial Rolls Out 'Crisis Insights'

In the US, social media analytics specialist StatSocial has launched an audience research service called Crisis Insights, as a direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

David BarkerNew York-based StatSocial classifies social media insights into 70,000 segments such as brand affinities, interests, TV shows, influencers, and IBM Watson Personality Insights. Built on the firm's Silhouette social media platform, the new Crisis Insights service monitors and analyses more than 1.3 million social media accounts, representing more than 70% of US households.

The service covers 30 topics across four categories: Coronavirus/COVID-19 covering areas such as medical influencers, elder care, and health treatments; preparedness in terms of home security, social isolation, 'stockpilers', and parenting; psychographics including anxiety/stress relating to work and the urban exodus; and the economy for business travellers, those working from home, job security and the stock market. Combined with Silhouette's psychographic data, and the firm's more than 85,000 consumer attributes, StatSocial says the solution gives CMOs and analytics teams a 'nearly immediate' understanding of a given moment's market dynamics.

CEO David Barker (pictured) comments: 'The response to our new service has been overwhelming. We are already working with the CMO of a major electronics manufacturer that sells through retail stores. With that channel now on hold, we're helping them identify new customer segments based on their responses to the crisis. A political campaign has asked us to provide daily insights on voter sentiment and dynamics across these affected groups. Lastly, a media platform has asked us to update our crisis data to their taxonomy on a daily basis so it is available to their customers'.
