Channel 4 Creates Strategy / Insight Director Role

Broadcaster Channel 4 has appointed Khalid Hayat in the newly created role of Director of Strategy and Consumer Insight.

Khalid HayatHayat (pictured) joins with twenty years' experience of consulting around the TV industry. Most recently, he worked at Deloitte as Director in the Strategy Consulting practice, with clients in the media and entertainment sectors. Before this he was Director, Media & Entertainment at EY, where one of his projects was to advise Channel 4 on its corporate and relocation strategy, including acting as lead author of EY's report on the long-term sustainability of Channel 4's free to air business model. Earlier, he spent nearly seven years at broadcaster ITV, latterly serving as Controller of Policy and Regulatory Strategy; and he worked for Ofcom as a member of its Strategy team.

In his newly created role, Hayat will lead both the Corporate Strategy and Consumer Insight functions, advising on major strategic issues, providing information and analysis to support decisions, and implementing long-term planning. He reports to COO Jonathan Allan, who comments: 'It's fantastic to have secured someone with Khalid's wealth of experience alongside an obvious passion for TV, into this key strategic role for Channel 4. This is a significant year for us and for public service broadcasting as a whole and Khalid's expertise and insight will add real value to our future strategy and business planning'.
