YouGov Hires 'Heavy-Hitters' for Media Sector Push

Research and analytics group YouGov has signalled its intent to increase market share in the media sector by bringing in US and European 'heavy-hitters' Tamara Alesi and Julian Newby.

Tamara Alesi and Julian NewbyAlesi becomes Sector Head of Media - North America and Rest of World, and joins from data marketing company Fluent, Inc., where she was the Chief Growth Officer. Earlier she worked at MediaCom, Birchbox and Digitas.

Newby takes the same title but for 'UK, Europe and Rest of World'. He joins from MediaCom where he served as Global Profiling Director, after leading Sqreem Technologies and serving as COO at NixonMcInnes.

The pair bring almost half a century of experience from managing and guiding media clients from Universal and Apple to Virgin Radio. In their new roles they will lead growth for YouGov's global media business; and work with its global team to develop new tools exploiting its 'treasure trove' of media sector data, which spans everything from brand tracking to consumption habits and attitudes. The existing 'Profiles' tool has been one of the firm's standout products in recent years, and last year was combined with the IPA's TouchPoints British media consumption survey.

Frank Saez, Global Head of Sector Experts, says the hires send 'the clearest possible signal to clients and prospects', commenting: 'We've been working in this sector for a long time but we've made these appointments - despite this uncertain period in the world - because our business has grown to reach critical mass. Julian and Tamara will be taking that forward and making sure that our teams and our tools continue to be ahead of the demands placed on them by clients. I can't wait to start working with them'.

The firm has operations in the UK, North America, mainland Europe, the Nordics, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, with a group home page at www.yougov.com .
