Chinese Agency Joins Harris Interactive Network

Harris Interactive has announced that United Research China, a full-service market research company in the People's Republic, has become the newest member of its Global Network.

United Research China began as Guangzhou Market Research (GMR), the very first market research organization in China in 1988. In 1992, its founders formed one of the first market research joint ventures in China with an international research company. They managed the joint venture in Guangzhou until early 1996, when United Research China was established in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing with the participation of over 30 experienced researchers. Offices in Hong Kong and Chengdu also opened in the same year.

United Research China was the first employee-owned market research practice in China and all of its key managers are equity partners of the company.

'This is a huge and important addition to our Global Network', says Humphrey Taylor, chairman of The Harris Poll(r), Harris Interactive and founder of the Network in 1992. 'Working with our new colleagues at United Research, we are now able to improve the services we offer to our many clients who have interests in the world's most populous nation with its very rapidly growing economy."

Davis Wu, president of United Research China, says his company recognizes the tremendous opportunity for MR consultancy in China: 'Becoming a member of the Harris Interactive Global Network will greatly enhance our core competence and strengthen our ability to exploit this opportunity'.

The Harris Interactive Global Network is a network of affiliate market research firms, now with more than a dozen members on six continents. Though affiliated with Harris Interactive, global network members operate as totally independent firms. More information is available at www.harrisinteractive.com/international/globalnet.asp
