Funds for Big Sofa

UK-based video intelligence platform Big Sofa Technologies has secured an undisclosed 'seven-figure' amount of funding, which it will use to drive the continued development of its platform and to make hires in the UK and US.

Kirsty FullerBig Sofa, which was founded in 2009 (then known as The Insight Exchange Partnership) by former Research International CEO Simon Lidington and organisational psychology specialist Matt Lynch, offers a platform for users to upload, edit, analyse and share video and other digital content. The firm - in which Ipsos became an investor in 2018 - also offers a solution called Video Observer, which uses automated technology to analyse in-home and in-store behaviour captured 'anywhere in the world, at scale and in near real time'. More recently, the company launched a behavioural data and analysis product called Lifestream, and an experiential data and analysis tool called Lifeshare, which it says have been a 'key driver' of its success.

New funding has been sourced through un-named private equity channels, including a mix of new and existing shareholders. CEO Kirsty Fuller (pictured) comments: 'I am very proud of what the business has achieved over the last two years. The importance of video as a remotely captured data source of authentic behaviour and experience is only going to grow and with it the need for a dynamic video technology platform for analysis and re-mining of the data. Big Sofa is poised to capitalise on this next frontier of consumer intelligence'.
