Kantar Public Hires for New Oz Government Comms Role

Kantar Public, the group's government and public sector practice, has hired Craig Donovan for the newly created role of National Director, Government Communications within its Australian business.

Craig DonovanEstablished in 2016, Kantar Public offers evidence and advisory services for the delivery of public policy, services and communications. Donovan (pictured) joins in Canberra after more than twelve years at the Australian Government department of Finance, where he latterly served as Acting Assistant Secretary for the Communications Advice Branch. Earlier, he worked for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as Senior Communications Adviser, and he was Senior Communications Manager at the Department of Social Services, having begun his career as Public Affairs Officer at the Health Insurance Commission.

Donovan's appointment follows Kantar Public's recent appointment to the Australian Federal Government's Government Communications Campaign Panel, which will see the team work closely with other creative, PR and Federal Agencies to design, and develop campaigns. In his new role, Donovan will work with Kantar Public's Asia Pacific co-CEO Kathy O'Donoghue, overseeing campaign strategy and development consultancy under this new government operating model.

Commenting on the news, O'Donoghue said: 'Craig will be a real asset to our business - bringing significant government communication strategy and campaign development expertise and understanding of the government operating environment. He will greatly enhance our ability to assist our government clients to create a safer, fairer, more economically prosperous society as we face the challenges associated with COVID recovery efforts, and beyond.'
