Funds for Five Data Firms

Analytics and data sharing companies continue to attract serious VC funding. This week in the US and Canada, A/B Testing firm MarketDial, data sharing / management firms Reltio and Yellowbrick Data, data exchange Trufan and CDP Treasure Data between them won in excess of $430m.

Treasure Data's Kazuki OtaSalt Lake City, UT-based MarketDial received an undisclosed sum to accelerate investment in talent and in its platform, which allows client organisations to design and analyze statistically valid in-store A/B testing.

Reltio, headquartered in Redwood City, California, raised $120m in funding (valuing the company at $1.7bn) to accelerate growth and global go-to-market. Its platform integrates data from multiple sources into a single place offering real-time operational and 'insight-ready' data.

Yellowbrick is based in Palo Alto, CA, and won $75m in Series C1 funds, and says it will use the money to accelerate growth in sales of its data warehouse helping clients of all sizes answer their business questions and run their own analytic workloads in the cloud.

Toronto, Canada-based Trufan got $2m in a Seed round, for an exchange where consumers can gain rewards for sharing their data: client companies decide on their own incentives, from gift cards and discounts to sweepstake entries and charity donations.

Treasure Data is headquartered in Mountain View, CA, and secured 'the largest-ever single funding round for a CDP' at $234m, led by SoftBank Corp. and with participation from Carbide Ventures. Funds will be used to double down on R&D for its CDP, and for a faster global roll-out. The platform helps client companies to deliver data-driven customer experience which protecting customer privacy. CEO and co-founder Kazuki Ota is pictured.
