Leger Buys Vancouver-based Insights West

Canadian polling, MR and strategy provider Leger has acquired Vancouver-based full-service MR agency Insights West for an undisclosed sum.

Steve MossopLaunched in 2012 by former Ipsos Reid President Steve Mossop (pictured), Insights West specializes in understanding shifting markets and consumer and societal trends through a proprietary toolkit and 'innovative' research approaches. The firm provides access to an online community, comprising British Columbians of Chinese and South Asian ethnic descent; a brand tracking tool called Brand Reputation Insights, and a campaign comparison solution called Creative Tests Insights; and it also develops proprietary panels on behalf of clients. In 2018, the Angus Reid Forum acquired Insights West's Western Canadian consumer panel YourInsights.

According to Leger, the acquisition will enable it to expand further into the markets of Vancouver and British Columbia, offer new methodological approaches, and increase the size of its Leger Opinion (LEO) panel. As part of the deal, Mossop will be EVP of Leger's Vancouver office and the entire Insights West team will be integrated with Leger's, with the size of Leger's Vancouver office doubling as a consequence. This marks the second Vancouver-based company Leger has acquired in two years, following its takeover of public sector and B2B research specialist National Research Group (NRG) in 2019.

Company President Jean-Marc Léger comments on the latest news: 'Steve Mossop is an experienced and passionate researcher who is supported by a team of senior professionals who are committed to research excellence. This acquisition represents the union of two companies with the same values, same approach, and same commitment to providing clients with actionable strategic insights based on a solid and accurate online panel'.
