ZoomInfo Hires Former ICO Exec as Compliance Officer

US-based B2B data and software firm ZoomInfo has appointed former ICO exec Simon McDougal as its first Compliance Officer, based in London.

Simon McDougalThe company holds data on around 100 million business professionals worldwide, has been established for around twenty years and was acquired in 2019 by DiscoverOrg. Both firms use proprietary technology and tools to gather, clean and maintain company and contact data.

McDougall (pictured) joins after serving as Deputy Commissioner, Executive Director - Technology Policy and Innovation at UK regulator the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), where he established new technology policy and innovation functions, directed work across artificial intelligence, AdTech and competition, and led the organisation's approach to the UK's usage of data relating to the pandemic. Prior to this he was MD and global lead for Privacy and Data Protection Services at IBM-owned Promontory Financial, and he held senior positions at Deloitte and Arthur Andersen.

In his new role, McDougall is tasked with providing transparency on how the company collects and uses its professional contact data and upholds individuals' rights to privacy. ZoomInfo founder and CEO Henry Schuck comments: 'We're thrilled to welcome Simon as we continue to advance our leadership position in compliance and privacy, and we look forward to further expanding our team locally'.
