Dentsu Hires Nielsen's Gilby as APAC CEO

Media and marcoms group Dentsu International has hired former Nielsen exec Robert 'Rob' Gilby as Chief Executive Officer, APAC based in Singapore. He will take up the post on September 5th.

Rob GilbyDentsu comprises a network of brands which focus on creative, media and customer experience management (CXM) strategies, with the latter specialising in developing data-driven approaches for bespoke experiences. Gilby (pictured) will join from Nielsen, where he served as President of Asia Pacific. He has held leadership roles in APAC for more than 25 years, and previously spent a dozen at The Walt Disney Company, where he latterly served as MD in Southeast Asia. He earlier worked for Turner as VP, Marketing & Network Development for Turner Entertainment Networks Asia; after beginning his career at PwC. In addition, he is the founder of investment and advisory firm Blue Hat Ventures, and he holds advisory and board roles with the Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information, and its agencies.

In his new role, Gilby will be responsible for unifying the APAC region's 11,600 employees across eighteen markets. He will report to Wendy Clark, Global CEO, Dentsu International, who comments: 'Rob is an exceptionally well-rounded leader with a progressive approach that deeply understands the future of the industry and opportunities for growth, for our people, our clients and our business.
