Ipsos Buys TQA, Joins Australian Top Five

Ipsos Australia has this week announced its acquisition of the assets of Melbourne-based TQA Research Pty. Ltd, lifting it into the Top 5 MR agencies in the Australian market.

In 2003 Ipsos acquired two other Australian operations, the Research Division of NCS Pearson (data collection and data processing) and The Mackay Report (Opinion and Social Research).

TQA was founded in 1981 and specializes in advertising and marketing research, concept development testing and demand forecasting, making it a good match for Ipsos' own strengths. Major clients in the automotive, financial and health industries give TQA revenues of $4 million AUD ($3.2m US / 2.4m Euro).

Henri Wallard, Chairman of Ipsos Asia-Pacific, points out that the Australian market ranks 10th in terms of global research expenditure and 3rd at the regional level, behind Japan and China. Wallard says that TQA helps Ipsos to establish 'a solid basis to serve its clients in Melbourne and in Sydney, as well as the group's regional key accounts based in Australia'.

Ipsos' web site is at www.ipsos.com and TQA's at www.tqaresearch.com.au
