Series A Funds for Data Engineering Platform Quix

Event-driven data engineering platform Quix has raised $12.9m in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to grow its team, and accelerate investments in product, partnerships, community and open-source initiatives.

Mike RosamLondon-based Quix was founded by four former McLaren F1 engineers, aiming to make streaming data accessible to Python professionals and enable developers to build, test and deploy real-time apps and services directly on the Apache Kafka platform. The firm's Stream SDK supports time-series data, events and metadata, and its platform is used by developers across the video game, media, manufacturing, automotive and telco industries.

The firm's founders say that increasing digitization of enterprise processes and consumer products has left companies awash with data - with more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of it created every day. Quix aims to solve that business challenge: processing data in real time to derive actionable insights.

New funding was led by MMC Ventures, with participation from existing investors Project A Ventures and Passion Capital. Quix co-founder Mike Rosam (pictured) says the money will 'fuel [the company's] mission to simplify event-driven data engineering so that more companies can build modern data-intensive apps'. He adds: 'We're hiring across the product and market teams to accelerate our journey'.
