beaconsmind Buys Location-based Data Firm Socialwave

Swiss firm beaconsmind, a developer of location-based marketing software, has acquired German guest data and marketing service provider Socialwave for EUR 10m.

Felix Schönfelder and Mario SchillingFounded in Munich in 2013 by Felix Schönfelder and Mario Schilling (pictured), Socialwave is a fully automated service offering guest Wi-Fi across the German speaking region, as well as additional online (Bluetooth) and off-line (NFC, QR-code) technologies for collecting guest data. This enables review collection and drives marketing campaigns, recommendation marketing and customer analytics.

With the deal, financed through a combination of debt, cash and 350,000 new shares, beaconsmind will extend its business model as a B2B point-of-sales solution provider. Both Socialwave founders will become shareholders of beaconsmind, while Schönfelder will serve as MD of Socialwave, reporting to Jonathan Sauppe, Head of the beaconsmind Wi-Fi Hotspot vertical, and Michael Ambros, Deputy Chairman of beaconsmind.
