Ipsos Wins Student Survey

Ipsos Public Affairs has been commissioned to undertake the UK's National Student Survey (NSS), a census survey of 283,000 final year undergraduate students.

The survey reflects the Government's aim of giving students the information to make informed choices about higher education subjects and institutions.

Ipsos, which fought off competition from as many as twenty-eight other companies, will implement a mixed methodology involving email and Internet, postal methods and CATI and will feature a pilot of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) data collection. A promotional campaign to boost student awareness of and support for the survey will be run, given the need for high response rates.

Sam McGuire, Director of Ipsos Public Affairs, says the win is obviously significant due to its scale, but also because the research is 'at the heart of the Government's drive to deliver a more customer focused public sector'.
