Technology Merger for TNS
Restructuring TNS has announced the merging of its existing Telecoms and IT research divisions into a single technology 'sector'. The move reflects increased client demand for expertise bridging the two markets, and the rise of wireless comms in general.
TNS expects particular benefits in developing insights around the spread of wireless technology and mobility issues, and linked to this the entertainment industry. In particular, TNS will focus on the impact of applications such as gaming, music, TV, news, sport and other media 'on the go'.
Dr. Tacis Gavoyannis, Worldwide Head of TNS Telecoms since October 2001, has been appointed to head up the new division. He has more than 20 years' experience of working with hi-tech and telecoms clients. Commenting on the merger, Dr. Gavoyannis said the once distinct markets of Telecoms, IT, entertainment and media were rapidly converging and merging. 'Mobility in both IT and Telecoms is critical for all our clients and, more importantly, for their clients. This re-focus will enable TNS to strengthen existing partnerships as clients identify the main trends impacting on their businesses and translate these into actionable insights'.
