TNS Reveals Worldpanel Plans

TNS has today announced extensive development plans for its global consumer panel service Worldpanel, including the expansion of its UK FMCG consumer tracking panel, Superpanel, from 15,000 to 25,000 households.

The Superpanel expansion, for which the recruitment drive will be completed by the end of 2006, will increase the number of products tracked and analysed by TNS by 60%.

Among two dozen other significant developments being made across Worldpanel's global network:
  • nine panel services will have their sample sizes increased considerably
  • a range of new consumer trend tracking services will be launched in the Asia-Pacific region, and
  • four existing panels will see investment made in upgrading their data collection methodologies.
Worldpanel will also add Mexico to its coverage, bringing the total to 32 countries.

Worldpanel MD Judith Passingham says TNS is committed to providing 'unparalleled consumer insight and understanding to the industry. We believe it is essential to invest in the advancement of our services, which will enable our clients to better strategically plan their own development on a truly global level'.

Worldpanel services are typically based on continuously monitored samples providing information on purchasing activity, and use locally matched technology including bar code scanners, Internet and till receipt scanning as well as paper diaries. The network achieves additional coverage through its Europanel partnership with GfK. The Worldpanel Home Page is at www.tns-global.com/worldpanel
