Panel Research Leaders Gather

It's boom time for panel-based research, and many of the field's leading figures will be assembling next month at ESOMAR's Panel Research Conference, 17-19 April, in Budapest, Hungary.

Online panels are perhaps the major growth area in research in the last three years, with large, specialist providers constantly in the news and many of the MR industry's mainstream groups now making major commitments to panel development. The main challenges include quality of responses, questionnaire design and, in particular, the recruitment of respondents and maintenance of fresh databases.

The Conference will include sessions on topics including Effects of new technologies; Developing panels and keeping your panellists; Panel management and panel quality issues; How panels affect business decisions; Insights into the industry and the latest developments; and Raising professional standards.

Kees de Jong, Chairperson and CEO of Netherlands-based Bloomerce Access Panels, is Chair of the Programme Committee. The list of speakers includes most of the big name panels agencies: Bloomerce parent Survey Sampling International, Ciao!, HI Europe, GfK, ACNielsen, Lightspeed, TNS, Virtual Surveys, the USA's Luth Research and Moskowitz Jacobs and speakers from a dozen other European countries. Client companies represented include Unilever, DHL, BskyB, Ofcom, Campbell Soup Co. and Hewlett Packard.

The event is described in more detail at www.esomar.org/panelresearch2005 with links to the full programme and registration in the menu to the left.
