Executive changes at MORI

MORI has announced that Sir Andrew Likierman is to step up from being a non-executive director to chairman on 1 July, the same date that the founder of the company and present chairman, Sir Robert Worcester, becomes Life President. He also becomes chairman of a new MORI Advisory Board.

According to Sir Robert, "MORI is now the twentieth largest research firm in the world and has just completed its most successful British election ever. This seems to me to be a good point to step back a bit from responsibility for a number of duties which can now be taken over by my colleagues to give me more time for my other responsibilities as an NED in other companies, governorships of both LSE and the University of Kent, honorary professorships at Kent and the University of Warwick, and trustee of several charities. Sir Andrew Likierman will be an ideal non-executive chairman, involved now for over a year as a MORI NED, experienced in both government and industry, a professor of distinction at the London Business School and as a Non-Executive Director of Barclays Bank and the Bank of England. He will also chair the remuneration and audit committees of the Board."

The agency has also established an Advisory Board to counsel the firm on societal trends, economic factors, and other matters affecting Britain and the world.

Advisory Board members include:

  • Sir Simon Jenkins, former Editor of The Times,
  • Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas, Provost of Kings College Cambridge and Chairman of the Royal Opera House,
  • Lord May of Oxford, President of the Royal Society,
  • Dr Geoff Mulgan, Director of the Institute of Community Studies and formerly Head of Policy in the Prime Minister's Office,
  • Mr Jim Rose, Chief Executive of Mosaic,
  • Sir George Russell, Deputy Chairman of ITV plc and formerly Chairman of 3i and the Camelot Group, and
  • Professor Laura Tyson, Dean of the London Business School.
