ARF Appoints Chief Research Officer

The Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) has appointed Dr. Joseph Plummer as Chief Research Officer - a move it says will help 'advance the scientific practice of advertising and marketing'.

Plummer is currently Executive VP, Director of Research & Insight Development for McCann-Erickson WorldGroup. He oversees the McCann Pulse global consumer insight network, Brand Clout optimization research, WorldGroup analytics, and the Human Futures Development training programme.

Prior to joining McCann-Erickson in 1997, Plummer was Vice Chairman and Worldwide Planning Director at DMB&B advertising. Previous roles include Vice Chairman and Board Director of research agency ASW, and MD of Paine Webber/Young & Rubicam Ventures, a marketing and consumer-driven investment bank.

Plummer's new role will be to ensure that the ARF provides leadership to the industry in using research to tackle advertising and marketing issues. He will also be a key member of the office of the President of the ARF, and a member of the executive committee.

Bob Barocci, President and CEO of the ARF described Plummer's appointment as 'awesome', claiming it would 'benefit every organization that uses advertising and marketing to meet their business goals'.
